Every Woman’s Centre

The Every Woman’s Centre is a non-profit organization incorporated on February 27, 1992 under the Societies Act of Nova Scotia. Operating by a volunteer board of directors, it is a member of Connect, a network of the provinces eight (8) women’s centres. We began as an organization that operated solely on monies raised in the community. The Nova Scotia Dept. of Community Services recognized the important work being done for the community and it began providing core funding in 1994.

The Every Woman’s Centre organization has grown tremendously through the years. Today we operate 3 locations which includes our Main Office and Program location; our Social Purpose Enterprise HERS Project / Gift Shop / Community Kitchen and Almost Home, our shelter for homeless women.  Community support is the driving force behind everything that happens throughout the year. Women come to us with a variety of requests and it is with donations from the community that we are able to answer those calls.

Sexual Assault Response Services are among the important initiatives of our Centre. In the event of crisis, we are able to offer supportive counselling, shelter, food, shower & laundry facilities, and access to Trauma-Informed Therapy. We are part of a Network of community agencies who are standing by to guide victims to a place of healing.
